“It turns out I suddenly find myself needing to know the plural of apocalypse . . . “

“You have to take care of each other. You have to be strong . . . The hardest thing in this world is to live in it. Be brave. Live. For me.”

Delivering an intimate and affordable fan weekend has always been a labor of love for us and our WhedonCon Team had been looking forward to making HalloWhedonCon the best event yet. However, faced with unprecedented times, we have been forced to make a difficult decision regarding our plans for the Fall of 2020. Given the protective restrictions in Los Angeles County, including travel restrictions, caps on the size of gatherings, and other social distancing measures, we can no longer create an event which maintains the level of intimacy and excitement our attendees have come to expect and deserve. Coupled with the possibility of a second wave of COVID-19 in the fall, we have reluctantly decided not to proceed with HalloWhedonCon as an in-person event.

Rather than dwell in disappointment, our team has rallied around the idea of organizing an affordable online fan event in October to raise funds for our charities, the Los Angeles LBGT Center and the Al Wooten Jr. Youth Center.

To our badgeholders: all 2020 badges will immediately roll over to June 4-6, 2021. As a gesture of our appreciation, you will receive complimentary access to our online event, a $20 value. Recognizing these challenging times, refund requests will be honored until June 30, 2020. Direct all refund requests to info@whedoncon.com. Please note that after a refund, you will not receive free access to our upcoming online event and no request for refunds will be honored after June 30th. If you take no action, your badge will be automatically transferred to June 2021.

To our vendors: all 2020 spaces will immediately roll over to June 4-6, 2021. We will reach out soon with an invitation to participate in our online event. For questions, please contact vendordept@whedoncon.com.

In the meantime, we encourage fans to connect and share your lives and love for the Whedonverse on our Facebook group (https://m.facebook.com/groups/1566683786931762) until we can meet again in person.

The Con Committee treasures our wonderful attendees, amazing guests and vendors, and our dedicated volunteer team and look forward to the day we can safely gather together. After a year of social distancing, we know that #WhedonCon2021 will be a time of joy, comradery, and celebration. We truly hope to see you all in June.

Until then, KEEP FLYING!
